Streaming Software
Start by downloading and installing your choice of streaming software. We'll stick to the main contenders, however, there are many more out there.
Please note, that almost all the versions of OBS are about the same and very comparable. Streamlabs Desktop is a customized version of OBS Studio, with integrations made from their company. SE.Live is a plugin that adds more functions and integrations from StreamElements to OBS Studio.
Choose your Software (downloads):
OBS Studio
Streamlabs Desktop
SE.Live
Xsplit Broadcaster
After you have followed the chosen software's instructions on installation, make sure you have an account with either Streamlabs.com or StreamElements.com.
- If you're using Streamlabs Desktop, we suggest using Streamlabs.com.
- If you're using SE.Live, we suggest using StreamElements.com.
- With OBS Studio or Xsplit Broadcaster, you can use either Streamlabs or StreamElements, but one of them is required as they will process your alerts and widget information.
If you're using Streamlabs Desktop or SE.Live, ensure you're logged into their platform in you streaming application. Shown Below

Overlay Setup
Not that you're signed in, let's start by importing Overlays. There's a few different ways to do this quickly, but we'll also show you the manual way, in case you have customized your sources using the source files. (Click here for: After Effects Quick Edit Article)

OBS Studio (Windows and MacOS)
***Xsplit Broadcaster doesn't have a quick import option, however, you can use the StreamElements Quick Import and use Xsplit.***
We now have our Overlays imported and ready to go. Let's get check our stream labels and move on to the alerts and widgets!
Stream Labels:
If you're using OBS Studio or Xsplit Broadcaster and wish to use the supporter bars (the bars that show new followers, subs etc... that remain on the screen), then you'll need to download and install a Stream Labels program. If you don't need it, skip to the Next Section.

Alert Setup
Now that you have your Overlays set up, we can work on your alerts and widgets. The first thing we want to do is CLOSE YOUR STREAMING APPLICATION. Any instance of OBS or Xsplit should be closed during this process as to not cache older information in the browser source.
After going through the alert setup, we have all the resources setup and you're ready to click that "Go Live" button.
